A Presumed Jaunt

While working hard on lesson planning, David wanted to go hike a little on Sunday and asked if I would like to go. Thinking that it would be good for me to get some fresh air, I decided to go with the understanding that it wouldn't be a long hike because I still needed to plan more for the next day of school.

Our destination was Mt. Sanitas in Boulder, CO. Having never been on this hike I had no idea what to expect, but what I found was a mini Grand Canyon. Let me clarify. It is nothing close to the length of the Grand Canyon (only 2 or so miles up). But it is UP. Mostly like climbing stairs 85% of the time. To add to that it had snowed the day before and apparently enough people have hiked that trail since then that it was nice and packed down and frozen. There was some slipping and sliding along the way...okay, not just some but a lot.  The challenging trail conditions made for a fun, exciting time especially when heading down the mountain.

The scenery was pretty nice. Snow on trees made everything look so much prettier, at least in my opinion.

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

The trail that we came up.
Finally made it.

This is looking south towards the Flatirons.

Boulder and some other towns. Looking east(ish)

And a little more of Boulder looking more North.

Good times had by all!

Pan-STARRS Comet

Upon learning that I had a chance to see the comet that the news has been talking about for a few days I got excited. A friend and I bundled up to embrace the cold night in hopes to get some pictures of the comet. It was really cold but the trip was a success. The pictures tell it all.

Sightseeing With My Family

I'm back at the picture taking. This semester has been really busy. I haven't had a chance to take too many picture unfortunately. But since my parents were able to come visit it gave me a good reason take them sightseeing. The pictures below are from Rocky Mountain National Park except for the last one.
